Terms of Service
Last updated 16 August 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Gautam Sharma, an individual based in the United States operating as RecompX (“we”, “us”). They cover the RecompX app and the recompx.app website. By using either, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use RecompX.
RecompX is not medical advice
This is the important one, so we have put it first and we mean it literally.
RecompX gives general fitness and nutrition information based on the answers you give it. It is not a doctor, a physiotherapist, a nurse or a registered dietitian. Nothing in the app — including anything the AI coach says, any plan it generates, any protein or calorie target, and any interpretation of your measurements — is medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a substitute for consulting a qualified professional.
The waist-to-height figures and risk bands shown in the app and on our quiz are general population screening heuristics. They are not a diagnosis and cannot tell you whether you have, or will develop, any medical condition.
Talk to a qualified professional before starting any exercise or nutrition programme — particularly if you are pregnant or postpartum, under 18, have an injury, an eating disorder or a history of one, or have a heart, joint, respiratory, metabolic or other health condition, or take medication that could be affected by changes in diet or activity.
If something hurts, stop. If you have symptoms like chest pain, dizziness, faintness or shortness of breath, stop immediately and seek medical help. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read in RecompX.
You train at your own risk
Strength training carries an inherent risk of injury — that is true of any exercise programme, however well designed. By using RecompX you acknowledge that risk and voluntarily assume responsibility for it. You are responsible for exercising within your own limits, using correct technique, using equipment safely, and stopping when your body tells you to. We are not present when you train, cannot supervise your form, and cannot assess your condition.
You confirm that you are in adequate health to exercise, or that you have cleared it with a professional.
The AI coach
The coach is an AI language model. It can be wrong, and it can be confidently wrong. It may misread your data, invent a detail, or give advice that is inappropriate for your circumstances. Use your own judgement, sanity-check anything that sounds unusual, and do not treat its answers as professional advice of any kind.
Do not send the coach information you would not want stored — and do not rely on it in an emergency. Your messages are processed as described in our Privacy Policy.
Your account
You must be at least 16 to use RecompX. You are responsible for keeping access to your email secure, since that is how you sign in, and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think someone else has access.
Give us accurate information during setup. The plan you get is only as good as the answers behind it.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- use RecompX for anything unlawful, or to harm anyone;
- try to break, overload, probe or circumvent the service, its rate limits or its security;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or scrape the app, except where the law expressly permits it;
- resell, redistribute or make the service available to others as your own;
- use the AI coach to generate unlawful, abusive or deliberately harmful content, or to extract the underlying model or prompts;
- upload anything that infringes someone else’s rights, or share another person’s health data without their permission.
Subscriptions and payment
RecompX offers a free tier and a paid subscription. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
- Billing. Subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store, and are charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. We never see your card details.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- Managing and cancelling. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID account settings. Deleting the app or your RecompX account does not cancel your subscription.
- Free trials. If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms, not by us. We can point you in the right direction but cannot issue them.
- Price changes will be notified in advance and never applied to a period you have already paid for. If you have statutory cancellation or withdrawal rights where you live, these terms do not take them away.
Your content and your data
Your training data is yours. We store it to run the app, and you can delete all of it at any time from your profile. We do not claim ownership of it and we do not sell it.
You grant us only the limited licence we need to operate the service for you — to store your data, show it back to you, compute your progress, and send the relevant parts to the AI coach so it can answer your questions. That licence ends when you delete the data or your account. We may use aggregated, de-identified statistics that cannot be traced back to you to understand and improve the product.
Our content
The app, the website, the RecompX name and logo, the training templates, the guides and the written material are ours and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may use them personally within the app. You may not copy, republish or redistribute them, including our free guides, without permission.
Availability
We do our best to keep the app working, but we do not guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may impose reasonable limits on use of the AI coach to keep the service running for everyone.
Disclaimers and limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, RecompX is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or that the guidance it produces will achieve any particular result. We do not warrant that the app, its plans, or the AI coach are accurate, complete, or suitable for your circumstances.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any injury, illness, death, loss or damage arising from your use of RecompX or from any exercise or dietary change you make in connection with it; nor for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or any lost data, profits or goodwill.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or US$50.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, you keep all the statutory rights your local law gives you, and these terms are read subject to them.
Indemnity
If your misuse of RecompX, or your breach of these terms, causes a claim against us by someone else, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages that result. This does not apply to claims arising from our own wrongdoing.
Ending your use
You can stop using RecompX and delete your account whenever you like — remember to cancel any subscription separately through Apple. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or abuse the service, and we will tell you why unless the law prevents us. The sections that by their nature should survive — content ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity and governing law — continue to apply afterwards.
Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or to handle any claim that the app fails to conform or infringes someone’s rights. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, or of your right to bring a claim there.
The rest
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing something straight away does not mean we have given up the right to. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours if RecompX changes hands, without reducing your rights. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about RecompX.
Changes
If these terms change we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app or by email if the change is material. Continuing to use RecompX after a change means you accept the updated terms.
